DUI Treatment and Counseling
Just because one may have made a bad decision in the past about driving after consuming alcohol or other drugs does not necessarily mean that one has a serious problem with substances. It certainly does not make one a bad person, but may indicate a significant mistake in judgement.
Most people who drink alcohol admit to having driven after consuming alcohol at least once in their lives and some will admit to regularly driving after 1 or 2 drinks.
At HPWC we are not interested in convincing people that they are "alcoholic" because of a Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants (DUII) charge. We are, however, interested in providing information that is needed to evaluate if alcohol or other substances are more important in one's life then community safety. We want individuals to leave HPWC with a clear behavioral change to not drive impaired again and to have benefitted from an individualized treatment experience.
We want everyone to be safe, including the community, families, and individuals.
For some people, a DUII arrest can be a traumatic experience. Our intention at HPWC is not to contribute to that distress. Rather, we will explore, resolve, prepare and promote the set of values you hold to increase your overall wellness and promote community safety. We hope to help individuals see the opportunity to focus on oneself and find a value in the experience outside of simply fulfilling a legal requirement.
Our staff has many years of experience working with persons referred because of a DUII in both Washington and Oregon. We understand that this population of people has a specific goal in coming to us for services. People we work with who are referred due to a DUII usually say that they wished they had the information they learned here before they had gotten a DUII. Many people who get a DUII will never drink and drive again; we strive for this outcome.
Not knowing what to expect can be the most terrifying part of the whole journey. Anyone facing this uncomfortable situation can call us. HPWC can help to make the experience a little bit less intimidating. We can answer questions or help find answers to help individuals regain the control over their life, while maintaining safety for all.
